The Taiwanese puppet culture started from the traditional puppet show. However, it has not progressed much since then, while other stage shows have evolved into multiple kinds. Therefore, creating a highly flexible theater design that offers the possibility of experimental innovation of the traditional puppet show in Tainan is the overall concept.
The site is located in the West Central district of Tainan City, full of traces of the old port town culture, with the rising restaurant and creative industry reinvigorating it at the same time. The image of the site to have one end supported by culture and the other pulled by innovation is like the mechanical form of puppet manipulation. As a result, two circulation cores are designed to lift up the structural system, while four half frame steel structures and cables pull up and stabilize it. With the rotating floor plates and the transparency of the facade as additional factors, the theatre is completed to represent the future of the puppet show industry.
