Brief Introduction
Patrick Hwang’s main scholarship field is design pedagogy in general and drawing education in particular. His recent publication focuses on the potency of Collaborative Drawing, a unique drawing modus operandi that stimulates “relational collaboration” in its process. His recent publications based on this research include “Drawing the Line” in JAE (2022), and “Inclusive Disegno” in Ardeth (2022). Patrick is a Taiwanese-American educated at RISD and Columbia University and is licensed in the United States. Since 1997, he has practiced architecture in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. His recent project with HLArchitects was exhibited at the 15th Venice Biennale Hong Kong Exhibition. Prior to joining NCKU, he taught at a number of universities. In the last 12 years at CUHK, he served in several leadership roles, including the director of the undergraduate programme, coordinator of the thesis project and the founder of the Architecture Explorer Programme.
